Escape into Nature with Glamping at Kenauk Nature

Glamping at Kenauk Nature

Go off the grid at this oasis in Montebello. Get all the benefits of camping but with the comfort of glamping at Kenauk Nature. It’s only an hour and a half from Ottawa and Montreal making it a perfect glamping escape. From kayaking, swimming, hiking, there’s plenty of ways to enjoy the outdoors. Here’s everything you need to know about your adventure glamping at Kenauk Nature:

How To Get To Kenauk Nature and Best Time To Visit

Kenauk Nature is an hour and a half from both Ottawa and Montreal, making it a great road trip destination.

Glamping at Kenauk Nature is available all year round. You’ll be able to enjoy different activities depending on the season. I visited in summer but I imagine it’s stunning in fall with the changing colours and it would also be a fun spot to cozy up in winter.

Glamping in a Yurt at Kenauk Nature

This was my first time staying in a yurt. You’re able to enjoy all the benefits of camping but with more comfort. It was such an amazing spot to truly disconnect and take in the views. I love having bonfires by the water and staring up at the stars through the yurt skylight.

The Yurt’s are on Needle Lake. You can’t swim here but it’s such a beautiful and peaceful view. I loved sitting with a drink by the bonfire and taking in the view. I could spend hours in that exact place.

The yurt can accommodate 2 adults and 2 children and is dog friendly. If you have a bigger group or are looking for more of a cottage adventure, make sure to check out their chalets.

What do I do for food?

Enjoy all the best parts of nature but with a full kitchen available. The kitchen includes two alcohol stoves, pots and pans, cooking utensils, a Java press for coffee, a barbecue, and a wood-burning stove. We used the BBQ for most of our trip. There’s no running water but they provide a five-gallon water tank. They provide a cooler for you but you’ll need to grab ice. We stopped at the grocery store in town. Also, a great spot in case there is anything you forgot to pack.

What’s sleeping in a yurt like?

Kenauk Nature provides mattresses and you need to bring your own sleeping bags. You can also rent some from reception. Above the mattress is a skylight that allows you to see the stars.

Is there a bathroom?

There is a dry toilet inside and outside the yurt. There’s also an outdoor pressurized shower that’s heated by the sun that you can use in summer.

Is there electricity?

If you’re like me and want to take lots of photos of your adventure, you’ll need a spot to charge your devices. There are USB ports for recharging phones and cellular service. The yurt uses a 12 volt electrical system for lighting.

Things To Do At Kenauk Nature

Canoe, Kayak or SUP

Get out on the water as much as you want. Canoe Kayak and SUP are included in your stay. Grab a lifejacket and hit the water. Lac Poisson Blanc is beautiful. Enjoy the water and the views.

Hiking

There’s over 50 kms of hikes to explore at Kenauk Nature. You’ll find trails for every skill level and lots of different trails. One trail has a fire tower you can climb up, another has an old “magic bus”, another with an epic lookout and more. Reception can make recommendations and provide a trail map. I recommend starting off with the easy trails unless you’re an experienced hiker. You can also purchase a day pass if you’re not staying overnight, otherwise hiking is included in your visit.

We didn’t have the best hiking experience which was totally our fault. Lesson learned not to start an ambitious hike a few hours before sunset. We started at the wrong point and the hike took us way longer than expected. We ended up running into a black bear that ran away. It definitely spooked me but my boyfriend is so happy he got to see a bear in the wild. My boyfriend was speaking with a staff member who shared it’s normal to see them and that they’re scared of humans so it made sense it ran away. Keep in mind we were also thick into the woods at this point and bears are more active around sunrise and sunset. But hey, it’s a great spot if you want to see wildlife 😉

Additional Activities at Kenauk Nature

These items are an additional cost:

  • Relax in the floating sauna
  • Clay pigeon shooting
  • Climbing
  • Fly fishing
  • In the winter you can enjoy dog sledding, skating, cross country skiing, snowshoeing

I loved visiting here and definitely somewhere I would return. I still dream of bonfires by Needle Lake. If you’re looking to go glamping I recommend this spot. Don’t wait because it books up quickly. Book your stay here. Check out some more things to do on your visit at Kenauk Nature below.

More Things To Do on Your Visit:

Parc Omega

Experience Canadian wildlife at Parc Omega. I have a full guide here full of things to do. They also have accommodation options if you want to add onto your visit.

Chutes de Plaisance

Make sure to add this waterfall onto your trip. This multilevel waterfall is the perfect backdrop for your road trip picnic. There is a fee but it’s worth it.

Explore Montebello

There are so many cute shops to explore. I always stop by Fromagerie Montebello. Pick out a selection of cheese and meats and make your own charcuterie to enjoy by the bonfire. You can also stop by Chocomotive for some gourmet chocolate to enjoy alone or with smores.

Looking for a more luxurious getaway? Add Fairmont Montebello onto your trip. I have a guide here. Although it focuses on winter it’s also a great destination year round.
