Ragged Falls

Next up on the waterfall series is a powerful waterfall that is in the top 10 of Ontario waterfalls. Here’s everything you need to know for your own adventure to Ragged Falls.

Why You Need To Visit Ragged Falls

You can experience this waterfall by the water below and by a trail above and you’ll see the thundering whitewater of this fall. It’s a powerful rush of water and makes for a perfect summer activity. It’s one of the top 10 waterfalls to visit in Ontario.

Day Trip To Ragged Falls

This is the perfect day trip from Algonquin Park, Arrowhead or a cottage in Muskoka. We stayed at Algonquin Park Canisbay and made a day trip here. Make sure to bring a day pack with sunscreen, food, etc. for this day trip.

How to Get To Ragged Falls

Rent a canoe or kayak at Algonquin Outfitters – Oxtongue River. They’ll give you a small map and you can glide along the Oxtongue River to get to Ragged Falls. Keep an eye out along the way for a rope swing!

It’s an exciting experience to hear the rush of the waterfall get louder and louder and you get close to the falls. The photo above is from the water. It’s hard to capture from iPhone but you can see the trail of water go through the waterfall from the bottom. I loved being able to see the incredible rush of water from below. Park your canoe or kayak on land and then hike to the top for another stunning vantage point.

Ragged Falls Oxtongue River trail is only 1km and provides a stunning view of the waterfall from the top. There’s rocks you can climb at the top that bring you closer to the bottom of the waterfall. This waterfall is strong so make sure to use caution.
