Where To See The Best Christmas Trees in Ottawa

National Gallery of Canada Christmas Tree

This time of year means you’ll find stunning Christmas Trees in Ottawa. Kick-off the season with these tree lighting ceremonies of some of the most incredible Christmas Trees.

Christmas Trees Along Sparks Street

Head downtown for Christmas Lights in Ottawa and stroll down Sparks Street to see plenty of Christmas Trees in Ottawa. This is one of my favourite streets in Ottawa during Christmas. You’ll see the street lined with Christmas trees with historic buildings of their backdrop. Sparks Street is also home to some wonderful local businesses. Check out my guide here. Tackle your Christmas shopping and then enjoyed some mulled wine on a heated patio.

Canadian Museum of History Tree

Head to the Canadian History Museum for their official tree lighting ceremony on November 28 at 6 p.m. There will also be Christmas carols, beaver bites and hot chocolate while quantities last. This event takes place at the same time as the opening of the Museum’s Christmas Market, which will be in the Grand Hall until 8 p.m.

Christmas Tree in Ottawa at IKEA

See a beautiful 36-foot tree illuminated with yellow and blue lights at IKEA Ottawa. Join IKEA on Dec. 1st at 6 pm for their special tree lighting ceremony in support of BGC Ottawa. Bring an unwrapped toy/gift and it will be donated to a child in need. See a list of recommended gifts here.

Trees for CHEO at the Chateau Laurier

Give back this Christmas by taking part in the 22nd annual Trees for Hope to support CHEO held by the Fairmont Chateau Laurier. On Monday, November 25th the halls of the historic Fairmont Château Laurier will once again hold a little extra sparkle. There are a few ways you can participate in this spectacular festive event. You can sponsor or a tree, vote on trees, or bid on auction items (you must buy an auction ticket here). Between Nov. 25 and Jan 3rd make sure to walk through the Forest of Trees in the Ballroom from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m and cast a vote for the best tree. You can visit, vote and donate. Last year alone this event raised $111,000 for CHEO. It’s a fun way to give back this holiday season.

Lansdowne Tree at Lights At Lansdowne

Head to Lansdowne this year for Lights at Lansdowne. See brilliant displays of light from their canopy, instagrammable elements, and more. They also have one of the best Ottawa Christmas trees. You’ll find it in front of the Aberdeen Pavillion. Visit it on the weekend and then head to the Farmers Market.

Community Tree in Perth

Outside Crystal Palace, you’ll find a large tree that is decorated with over 900 lights. Head to Perth and visit a community tree that will be hung with over 900 lights. You’re encouraged to leave your own ornament. Check out my guide for more things to do in the area. You can view the tree from November 20th to January 3rd.

Christmas Trees at Casino Lac Leamy

This is one of my favourite Christmas Trees in Ottawa-Gatineau. As soon as you enter Casino Lac Leamy you’ll find a stunning Christmas tree over the holiday season. The tree is adorned with beautiful decorations and has over 20,000 lights illuminating its branches. You’ll also Christmas Trees in the Hilton Lac Leamy. Check out the Christmas tree and then enjoy some more holiday fun at the Casino.

Here’s some more festive fun in the capital.
