Wondering what to do for Halloween in Ottawa? Here are some fun, festive and spooktacular ideas for all ages:

Halloween in Ottawa – Fun Ideas

Go Pumpkin Picking

Check out my guide to pumpkin picking in Ottawa here. It includes a farm that has a whole festival dedicated to pumpkins, one that has a corn maze, spots you can bring your dog and more.

Carp Halloween Market

Head to Carp for the Halloween edition of the Farmer’s Market! There will be over 95 vendors, trick or treating, haunted barn, and more! This market has lots of cute fall vibes and perfect start to your weekend.

Get Festive at Pumpkin Inferno

Walkthrough the grounds of Upper Canada Village and you’ll see over 7000 hand-carved and illuminated pumpkins at Pumpkin Inferno. The pumpkins are carved with so much detail and you’ll be blown away by the creations they’ve made like dinosaurs, ocean creatures and more. This is a great activity for all ages. It’s only an hour drive away from Ottawa and definitely worth it when you see all the pumpkins in person! I suggest heading there early and printing out your ticket ahead of time so you get in asap! This would be especially fun as a date night 🙂

Wickedly Westboro

Enjoy some fun at Wickedly Westboro. The scavenger hunt runs from October 10th to the 31st with people searching throughout Westboro Village to spot 5 different “spooky bud” posters in the windows of businesses. Once you spot all 5, there are 3 ways you can enter to win 1 of 10 goodie bags curated by our local shops. Find all the details here.

On October 25th there is a trick-or-treating afternoon from 1-4pm through Westboro Village! Many businesses come out to hand out candy, host special spooky events of their own, along with various street performers out and about to entertain!

A Night Out

Hit the town in your costume. I recommend heading to Elgin Street or Byward Market. You can guarantee that on the weekends surrounding Halloween, people will be decked out in their costumes. If there’s a spot you’re interested in visiting, I recommend checking their social media channels ahead of time to see what’s planned. Back to Brooklyn in Byward Market and Rabbit Hole on Sparks Street have special Halloween events.

Get Outside

Go on a day trip to Almonte and head to Mill of Kintail. This is a beautiful spot to get some fresh air and take in the views but its also rumoured to be haunted. I’ve seen paranormal activity trucks a few times when I’ve been here. I have a full guide to Almonte here.

Halloween in Ottawa – Scary Ideas

Studio B Horror Haunted House

From the filmmakers at 1D Studios comes the most immersive haunt in Ottawa:
Studio B Horror. Step onto real sets built inside a working film studio and descend into the twisted imagination of Andi Cryst—a cult horror creator whose B-movie nightmares refuse to stay on screen.

This isn’t a haunted house you shuffle through in a line. Use code OTTAWA to get 10% off tickets here. Visit on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 1D Studios at 2935 Conroy Road.

Haunted Walk

Book a Haunted Walk to learn the spooky stories of downtown Ottawa or an Ottawa Valley Haunted tour that will lead you to some cool (and spooky) spots like a haunted cider mill or the place of Canada’s first registered poltergeist.

Saunders Farm

Saunders Farm is a classic for Halloween fun. Head there during the day for Haunting Season, full of Halloween-themed family fun. There are over 35 attractions, live shows, a parade, 9 hedge mazes, pedal carts, food booths, a giant corn maze and more!

My favourite part is Fright Fest, their nighttime haunted attractions. This is where you walk through their haunted buildings and creatures will pop out and scare you! You need to do their haunted hayride, that will take you through a special course with lots of surprises.

Fright fest includes 5 fright sites, live original shows, street theatre, arcade games, food booth, and a tavern. This isn’t recommended for kids under 10, so make sure to bring them to Haunting Season.

Skreamers

Head to Proulx Farm for a night of terrors at Skreamers. Enjoy their haunted barns and wagon ride. Not only can you enjoy some Halloween fun but its also a fundraiser for the Kiwanis Club of Eastern Ottawa.

Acres of Terror

Head to Cannamore Orchard for a scare if you’re brave enough 😉 During the day is for families and young children that want to have fun but don’t like to be scared. At night is when the real scary activities happen. Each of their activities is also wheelchair accessible! Go on their spooky wagon ride, visit the house of terror and haunted village, go through the fog maze and more.
