Explore Jars: Sparking Summer Adventures

Explore Jar

I created Explore Jars to highlight new sights and experiences you can enjoy here at home this summer. For the summer of staycations, they were created to help spark new ideas to make this summer amazing.

I’ve been sharing adventures of things to do locally and abroad on Little Miss Ottawa for almost 6 years. I’ve used past adventures and future ones I’m excited for to create Explore Jars.

Why Explore Jars?

As always, I had travel in mind when I created them. I wanted to create a tangible way we can experience that excitement and surprise we get when we’re travelling. Ever have those days where you’re not sure what to do? Explore Jars will help take the planning out so that you can focus on having fun.

From incredible sights and hikes, hidden patios, wineries, day trips, and more, there’s plenty to keep you busy this summer.

How Do Explore Jars Work?

Step one: download your free Explore Jars pdf here.

Step two: cut along the dotted line and at the activities to your own Explore Jar. I’ve provided a label or you can feel free to use your own 🙂

Step three: pull activities at random when you’re looking for something to do. Each activity is paired with a blog post so that you have all the information you need to make it possible. Love an activity? Feel free to add it back into the jar to do again or try one of the other variations.

You can pull activities on a whim or pull activities at the beginning of the week to plan out your adventures?

The feedback so far has been incredible and I hope it leads you to new places and sparks summer adventures. I would love to see your own activities. Feel free to tag @littlemissottawa on social 🙂

Explore Jar Wildcard Activities

Did you pull the wildcard item from your jar? Here’s some fun activities that have popped up:

Special Savings

Unlock Special discounts with the #MyOttawa Pass. It includes savings on bike rentals, bi-plane adventures, certain restaurants, and more.

Bank Street Adventure

Downtown Bank Street will be closed to vehicle traffic on Saturdays. Head here for a stroll or bike ride. Stop at Magic Molecule for some really cool ice cream made with liquid nitrogen. Enjoy your ice cream while visiting the murals on the street. Grab a poke bowl at Burrito Sensei and then use this sunset guide to find a nearby spot to enjoy it.
